Welcome to the Washington Metropolitan Society of Health-System Pharmacists (WMSHP). WMSHP membership covers the entire spectrum of pharmacy practice settings and includes as its members: pharmacists, residents, students and pharmacy technicians. We have members living and working in the District of Columbia, Maryland and Virginia. WMSHP's vision is: To be recognized as the leading organization in Washington DC promoting excellence, accountability and leadership through education, research and the practice of pharmacy to improve patient outcomes.

 

To become a WMSHP member, use the website (www.wmshp.org) and select the JOIN tab and complete your application information and pay on-line to join. WMSHP welcomes your membership and support.

 

 

The WMSHP embodies a diverse professional membership that includes pharmacists and pharmacy personnel from federal agencies, university teaching and clinical health-systems and ambulatory care clinics, academia, community and healthcare systems pharmacy practices and, retired pharmacists. As a metropolitan pharmacy society with members from DC, MD, and VA, WMSHP has continued to develop programs that are designed to equip our future pharmacy colleagues with skills and confidence to work effectively in teams that are essential for the efficient management of any healthcare system or organization. One of WMSHP's strategic plans has been partnering with area Schools of Pharmacy and work with their students. WMSHP seeks to reach out and welcomes contacts with Schools of Pharmacy and their Students' Associations to develop programs of educational and professional value to help guide their career and leadership path in pharmacy best practices.

 

 

Don’t miss out on the opportunity to have an increasingly important role in patient care, paired with WMSHP’s goal to expand and grow. Take advantage of WMSHP by becoming a member (as a pharmacist, resident/fellow, student or technician) and receive resources, networking opportunities, encouragement, promotion of best practices, and continuing education programs that will make you a better pharmacist, resident, pharmacy technician, or student. WMSHP's educational program meetings include ACPE-approved seminars presented by pharmacists and healthcare professionals, membership recruitment and networking, pharmaceutical display exhibits from vendors, pharmacy resident and student showcase poster presentations as well as opportunities to explore and participate in potential leadership and committee roles in WMSHP.
